Heller's Thrush

Turdus helleri

Heller's Thrush (Turdus helleri) is a medium-sized songbird found in the highlands of Costa Rica and western Panama. It has a distinctive olive-brown upper body and a creamy white underbelly, with a prominent eye ring and a pale throat. This species is known for its melodious and varied song, often heard in the early morning and evening. Heller's Thrush prefers to inhabit montane forests and cloud forests, where it forages for insects, fruits, and berries. Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, this species faces threats from deforestation and climate change. Its conservation status is currently listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
