Hermit Thrush, Catharus guttatus, is a thrush of North America, breeding widely across the continent. In the nonbreeding season it moves to the western and southern United States, Mexico and Guatemala. It belongs to the family Turdidae and the order Passeriformes, and was described by Pallas in 1811. Among North American Catharus thrushes, it is the only spotted one normally present in winter. Its breeding grounds are in coniferous or mixed woodland, and it nests on the ground or low in a tree.
