Troglodytidae — Wrens

Hermit Wood Wren, Henicorhina anachoreta, is a wren of the Santa Marta Mountains in north-eastern Colombia, where it breeds above 2,000 m. It is confined to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta and lives in humid montane forest. Bangs described it in 1899. The bird belongs to the family Troglodytidae and has no subspecies. It was once treated as part of the grey-breasted wood wren, but is now recognised as a separate species. The name Hermit Wood Wren was adopted to avoid confusion with the Santa Marta wren.
