Oenanthe heuglinii
Heuglin's Wheatear is a small, insectivorous bird found in the steppes and semi-deserts of central Asia. It has a distinctive black face mask and white underparts, with the male having a blue-grey upperparts and the female being more brownish. These wheatears are known for their habit of perching on prominent rocks or posts, from where they sally forth to catch insects. They are highly territorial during the breeding season, and their melodious song can often be heard as they defend their nesting sites. Despite facing threats from habitat degradation and climate change, the population trend of Heuglin's Wheatear is currently stable.
