Hill Pigeon

Columba rupestris

The Hill Pigeon (Columba rupestris) is a species of pigeon found in mountainous regions of southern Europe and parts of Asia. It is characterized by its slate-grey plumage, white wing bars, and a distinct pale band across the tail. These pigeons are well adapted to their rocky habitats, often nesting on ledges and cliffs. They are primarily herbivorous, feeding on seeds, grains, and berries. The Hill Pigeon plays an important role in the ecosystem as a seed disperser. Despite facing some threats from habitat loss and hunting, the population of Hill Pigeons is currently stable.
