Honduran Emerald, Amazilia luciae, is a hummingbird of Middle America, breeding in Honduras. It is confined to three separate parts of northern Honduras and lives in tropical dry forest, especially in intermontane valleys. The bird is also found in thorn forest, pine-oak forest and along pasture edges. It was first described in 1868 by Lawrence. The species has a medium-length, slightly downcurved bill with a black upper mandible and a red lower mandible tipped in black. Adults show marked differences between the sexes, and young birds resemble the female.
