Hooded Gnateater, Conopophaga roberti, is a passerine of the gnateater family found in north-east Brazil. It is restricted to the country’s eastern Amazon region, from Pará through Maranhão and Piauí to western Ceará. It lives from sea level to about 300 m in primary forest and older secondary growth, including evergreen and seasonally dry woodland, and it favours thick cover. The species is monotypic. The male has black on the head, neck and lower breast with a small white mark behind the eye, while the female shows a rufous crown and pale grey underparts.
