Hooded Mountain Tanager, Buthraupis montana, is a tanager of the Andean highlands in South America, from Colombia to Bolivia. It lives in forests and woodland, and is the only species in the genus Buthraupis. The bird was first described in 1837 by d’Orbigny and Lafresnaye. It is one of the larger tanagers, and has a black head and thighs, a blue back, a bright yellow belly, and red eyes. Its breeding range extends through Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Venezuela.
