Icterus cucullatus

The Hooded Oriole is a striking bird with a bright yellow body, black bib, and a distinctive black mask extending from its bill to the back of its head. These orioles are known for their melodious and flute-like songs that can be heard in their preferred habitats of open woodlands, riparian areas, and suburban gardens. They are primarily insectivorous, feeding on a variety of insects and spiders, and occasionally nectar. Hooded Orioles are known for their intricate hanging nests, which they build using fibers, grasses, and other plant materials. They are commonly found in the southwestern United States and Mexico.
