Hooded Robin

Melanodryas cucullata

The Hooded Robin is a small passerine bird native to Australia. It is known for its distinctive black hood and white underparts, with the male having a black back and the female having a brown back. These birds are often found in open woodlands and scrublands, where they forage for insects on the ground. They are known for their sweet, melodious songs, often heard during the breeding season. The Hooded Robin is a monogamous species, with pairs defending territories during the breeding season. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential threats to their populations.
