The Hooded Wheatear (Oenanthe melanoleuca) is a small passerine bird found in arid and semi-arid regions of North Africa and the Middle East. It is characterized by its striking black and white plumage, with a distinctive black hood extending down the back. This species prefers open, rocky habitats with sparse vegetation, often found in mountainous areas or dry wadis. The Hooded Wheatear forages for insects on the ground and is known for its agile and acrobatic flight. Despite its relatively wide distribution, the population trend is unknown, and it is currently classified as Least Concern by the IUCN.
