Horned Lark

Eremophila alpestris

The Horned Lark, scientifically known as Eremophila alpestris, is a small songbird found across North America, Europe, and Asia. It is known for its distinctive black facial mask and small 'horns' of feathers on its head. Horned Larks are highly adaptable birds, often found in open habitats such as grasslands, agricultural fields, and tundra. They are known for their melodious song and aerial displays during courtship. These birds forage on the ground for seeds and insects, and they form large flocks during the non-breeding season. The Horned Lark is a resilient species, but it faces threats from habitat loss and climate change.
