Humblot's Heron

Humblot's Heron, Ardea humbloti, is a heron of western and central Madagascar, with breeding range in Africa across western and central Madagascar. It is most often associated with coastal lowlands and wetlands, especially tidal areas, though it also uses lakes, rivers, mangroves and estuaries. The bird has a uniform dark grey body, darker feathers on the forehead and chin, a pale bill, pale eyes and pale legs, with elongated nape feathers forming a crest. It was described by Milne-Edwards and Grandidier in 1885.
