Hume's Owl

Strix butleri

Hume's Owl (Strix butleri) is a medium-sized owl found in the mountainous regions of central Asia. It has a rounded head with prominent ear tufts and a mottled brown and white plumage that provides excellent camouflage in its rocky habitat. These nocturnal hunters primarily feed on small mammals and birds, using their keen hearing and sharp talons to capture prey. Hume's Owls are known for their haunting hoots that echo through the valleys at night. Despite their elusive nature, they are vulnerable to habitat loss and disturbance from human activities.
