Hume's Wheatear

Oenanthe albonigra (Hume, 1872)

Hume's Wheatear, Oenanthe albonigra, breeds across parts of Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Oman in the Palearctic. It is a bird of the Old World flycatcher family, and its range also includes southern Afghanistan, Iran, extreme northeast Iraq, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. The species was first described in 1872 by Hume. It is a black-and-white wheatear, with dark upperparts and a white underbody. Both sexes share the same plumage, and it is noted for its larger build, stronger bill and longer wings than the similar Variable Wheatear form.
