Icterine Warbler

Hippolais icterina

The Icterine Warbler is a small, insectivorous bird found in Europe and western Asia. It is known for its bright yellow underparts and olive-green upperparts, with a distinctive pale stripe above the eye. These warblers inhabit open woodlands, forest edges, and scrubby areas, where they forage for insects among the foliage. Their melodious and far-carrying song is a characteristic feature of their breeding season. Icterine Warblers are known for their long migrations, traveling to sub-Saharan Africa for the winter. While their populations are generally stable, they may face threats from habitat loss in some regions.
