Ihering's antwren

Myrmotherula iheringi

The Ihering's antwren is a small, insect-eating bird found in the Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil. It has a distinctive black and white plumage with a rufous crown and tail. This species is known for its acrobatic foraging behavior, often seen hopping and flitting through the dense understory foliage in search of small insects. It prefers to inhabit the lower levels of the forest, where it can be found in dense thickets and shrubby areas. The Ihering's antwren is considered to be of least concern by the IUCN, but its population is declining due to habitat loss and fragmentation.
