Imperial Shag

Imperial Shag, Leucocarbo atriceps, breeds along the coasts of southern South America, on the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and nearby islands, the Antarctic Peninsula, and subantarctic islands of the southern Indian Ocean and Macquarie Island. It is a member of the cormorant and shag family. The bird is also known as the imperial cormorant, blue-eyed shag and blue-eyed cormorant. Its classification is complex, and different authorities place it in different genera, with some treating several forms as subspecies and others as separate species.
