Inca Dove, Columbina inca, breeds in North America and Middle America from south-west USA to Costa Rica. It is a dove in the family Columbidae, first described by Lesson in 1847. The bird is slender, with a grey-brown body marked by feathers that give a scaled look. Its tail is long and square, with white edges that can spread out in flight. The underwings are reddish, and when it lifts off the wings make a quiet rattling sound.
