Indian Blackbird, Turdus simillimus, is a thrush of India and Sri Lanka in the Oriental Region. It belongs to the family Turdidae and was described by Jerdon in 1839. It is a former member of the common blackbird group. The birds from much of the Indian subcontinent are small, with a broad eye-ring, and they differ from the common blackbird in body proportions, wing pattern, egg colour and voice. Several forms are recognised across the Western Ghats, the Eastern Ghats and the hills of southern India, with another confined to montane forests in Sri Lanka.
