Indian Golden Oriole

Oriolus kundoo

The Indian Golden Oriole (Oriolus kundoo) is a strikingly beautiful bird found in the Indian subcontinent. It is known for its bright yellow plumage, contrasting black wings, and a distinctive black eye-stripe. This medium-sized oriole is known for its melodious and flute-like song, often heard in open woodlands, gardens, and orchards. The Indian Golden Oriole is primarily insectivorous, feeding on a variety of insects, fruits, and nectar. It builds its cup-shaped nest in the canopy of trees, where it lays its eggs. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential threats to its population.
