Indian Pitta

Pitta brachyura

The Indian Pitta is a colorful bird found in the Indian subcontinent and parts of Southeast Asia. It is known for its distinctive array of colors, including a bright green back, red belly, and blue wing feathers. This small bird is often found in dense undergrowth of forests, where it forages for insects and small invertebrates. The Indian Pitta has a melodious call and is often heard before it is seen. It is known for its secretive nature and can be difficult to spot despite its vibrant plumage. Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, the Indian Pitta's population is declining in some areas, leading to concerns about its conservation status.
