Indian Stone-curlew, Burhinus indicus, is a bird of inland north-western and western India and Sri Lanka, extending east to central Myanmar, central Thailand, Cambodia and southern Vietnam. It belongs to the Burhinidae, the stone-curlews and thick-knees, and was described by Salvadori in 1866. It is a stocky ground bird with large eyes and a brown plumage marked by streaks and pale patterning, which helps it blend into soils and rocks. It is mainly active in the dark, and its calls resemble those of true curlews.
