The Indigo-capped Hummingbird is a small, vibrant hummingbird found in the highland forests of Costa Rica and western Panama. It is distinguished by its iridescent green plumage, with the males sporting a brilliant indigo cap on their heads. These agile birds are known for their remarkable hovering and darting flight patterns as they feed on nectar from a variety of flowers. They also consume insects and spiders for protein. The species is known for its melodious and high-pitched vocalizations, often heard during the breeding season. Despite its localized distribution, the Indigo-capped Hummingbird is not currently considered threatened.
