Collocalia isonota
The Indochinese Swiftlet (Collocalia isonota) is a small, fast-flying bird found in Southeast Asia. It is known for its remarkable aerial acrobatics and its ability to navigate through narrow, dark cave systems. This species is characterized by its dark plumage, short forked tail, and rapid wingbeats. Indochinese Swiftlets primarily feed on flying insects, which they catch in mid-air using their wide gape. They are colonial nesters, constructing their cup-shaped nests using saliva on the walls of caves. These nests are highly prized for their use in bird's nest soup, leading to overharvesting in some areas. The conservation status of the Indochinese Swiftlet is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
