Invisible Rail, Habroptila wallacii, is a rail confined to Halmahera in Northern Maluku, Indonesia, where it lives in dense sago swamps beside forest. It is a flightless bird with a dark slate-grey plumage, and its bare eye skin, bill and legs are bright red. It is hard to observe because it keeps to thick cover. Its voice is a low drumming sound with wing-beating. It feeds on sago shoots and insects, and it swallows small stones to help break up food. It is apparently monogamous, and the only known nest was a shallow bowl in a rotting stump.
