Stiltia isabella
The Isabelline Wheatear is a small, insectivorous bird found in arid and semi-arid regions of Asia and North Africa. It has a distinctive pale sandy-grey plumage with a white rump and black wings. This species is known for its habit of perching on prominent rocks or low shrubs while hunting for insects. Isabelline Wheatears are migratory birds, breeding in Central Asia and wintering in the Arabian Peninsula, North Africa, and the Indian subcontinent. They prefer open, sparsely vegetated habitats such as deserts, steppes, and rocky slopes. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and climate change, the conservation status of the Isabelline Wheatear is currently assessed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
