Isabelline Wheatear

Cossyphicula isabellae

The Isabelline Wheatear is a small, insectivorous bird found in arid and semi-arid regions of Asia and North Africa. It has a pale sandy-brown plumage with a distinctive white rump and black wings. This species is known for its habit of perching on prominent rocks or low bushes while hunting for insects. Isabelline Wheatears are migratory birds, breeding in open, stony areas and wintering in more southern regions. They are often seen in pairs or small groups during the breeding season. Despite their relatively wide distribution, their population is believed to be declining due to habitat loss and degradation.
