Isthmian Wren

Cantorchilus elutus (Bangs, 1902)

Isthmian Wren, Cantorchilus elutus, is a passerine of the Troglodytidae family that breeds in south-west Costa Rica and western Panama. It was described by Bangs in 1902. Its range is on the Pacific side of Costa Rica and across much of Panama, where it uses humid places such as forest margins, regrowth and gardens, while avoiding dense wet forest. It is the bird once grouped with Cabanis’s Wren and Canebrake Wren under plain wren, before those forms were split into three species.
