Izu Robin

Larvivora tanensis (Kuroda, Nm, 1923)

Muscicapidae — Chats, Old World Flycatchers

Izu Robin, Larvivora tanensis, is a passerine in the Muscicapidae that breeds in the Izu Islands of southern Japan. It is confined to that island group and belongs to the chats and Old World flycatchers. It was once included with the Japanese Robin, Larvivora akahige, but is now recognised separately. The main basis for that separation was a difference in vocalisation. It was described by Kuroda, Nm, in 1923.
