Jalca Tapaculo, Scytalopus frankeae, is a bird of the tapaculo family found in central Peru, from Huánuco to Junín. It lives in jalca country, using dense bunchgrass with scattered shrubs, ravines and steep rocky slopes, and it also occurs at the edge of treeline forest, in Polylepis, and in riparian evergreen forest. It is a small, plump, dull-coloured bird. The species was described in 2020 and is endemic to Peru. Its name refers to the local habitat term, and the scientific name honours Dr Irma Franke.
