Glaucidium radiatum

The Jamaican Owl (Glaucidium radiatum) is a small owl species endemic to Jamaica. It is characterized by its distinctive brown and white plumage, large yellow eyes, and a relatively short tail. These nocturnal birds are known for their haunting calls that echo through the forests of Jamaica. They primarily feed on insects, small mammals, and birds. The Jamaican Owl inhabits a variety of forested habitats, including montane and lowland forests. Unfortunately, due to habitat loss and predation, the conservation status of the Jamaican Owl is currently listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
