Jameson's Antpecker

Parmoptila jamesoni

Jameson's Antpecker (Parmoptila jamesoni) is a small passerine bird found in the montane forests of central Africa. It is known for its distinctive black and white plumage, with a bright red patch on the throat of the male. These birds are often found in mixed-species foraging flocks, where they feed on insects and small fruits. They are known for their high-pitched calls and agile movements as they forage through the foliage. Jameson's Antpeckers are highly territorial during the breeding season and build cup-shaped nests in the dense undergrowth. Despite their limited range, they are not currently considered to be at risk of extinction.
