Jameson's Snipe

Gallinago jamesoni (Jardine & Bonaparte, 1855)

Jameson’s Snipe, Gallinago jamesoni, is a bird of montane bogs in northern to west-central South America, from western Venezuela to north-central Bolivia. It is a stocky wader of the Andes and is also known as the Andean snipe. Its plumage is marked with streaking and patterning on the upperparts, head and neck, with warm brown and buff tones and gold-edged feathers that run in lines along the back. The belly is white with brown barring, and the bill is long, straight and fairly robust. The sexes look alike.
