Jameson's Snipe

Jameson's Snipe is a medium-sized wader bird found in the highlands of New Guinea. It has a mottled brown and buff plumage, with distinctive barring on the underparts. This species is known for its long, straight bill and cryptic coloration, which provides excellent camouflage in its marshland and grassland habitats. Jameson's Snipe is primarily crepuscular, foraging for invertebrates and small amphibians in the soft mud with its sensitive bill. Despite being relatively widespread in its range, the species faces threats from habitat loss and degradation. Its conservation status is currently categorized as 'Least Concern' by the IUCN.
