Japanese Bunting
Emberiza affinis
The Japanese Bunting (Emberiza affinis) is a small passerine bird found in East Asia. It is characterized by its streaked brown and white plumage, with a distinctive chestnut-brown crown and a black throat patch. This species is often found in open grasslands, agricultural fields, and forest edges, where it forages for seeds and insects. During the breeding season, the male Japanese Bunting sings a simple, repetitive song from a prominent perch. The species is not currently considered at risk, but habitat loss and agricultural intensification may pose future threats.
