Japanese Leaf Warbler

Phylloscopus laetus

The Japanese Leaf Warbler is a small, insectivorous bird found in the forests and woodlands of Japan. It is known for its distinctive song, consisting of high-pitched, rapid trills. This species has a greenish-yellow plumage on the upperparts, a pale yellowish underbelly, and a white eye-ring. It forages actively in the tree canopy, gleaning insects from leaves and branches. The Japanese Leaf Warbler migrates to wintering grounds in Southeast Asia. Its breeding habitat is threatened by deforestation and habitat degradation.
