Japanese Thrush, Turdus cardis, is a thrush in the family Turdidae that breeds in central China and across Japan from Hokkaido to Kyushu. In the non-breeding season it moves to south-east Asia and south-east China. It is a migratory bird of forests and woodlands, and also uses secondary growth, gardens and parks. The species is sexually dimorphic. The male has black upperparts and underparts with a white belly marked by black spots, while the female is brown above with white underparts and rusty orange on the flanks.
