Padda fuscata
The Java Sparrow (Padda fuscata) is a small, colorful finch native to Java and Bali in Indonesia. It is a popular cage bird due to its striking appearance and pleasant song. Java Sparrows are social birds often found in flocks, and they are known for their distinctive pink bills and gray plumage with white patches. They primarily feed on seeds and grains, foraging in open grasslands, rice fields, and cultivated areas. Unfortunately, due to habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade, the Java Sparrow's wild population has declined, leading to its classification as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
