Javan Shortwing, Brachypteryx montana, is a bird of the family Muscicapidae that breeds in montane Java. It was described by Horsfield in 1821. Endemic to the island, it is associated with montane forests. Formerly known as the white-browed shortwing, it now stands as a single species with no recognised subspecies. The bird is a shy ground-dweller that keeps to dense cover, often close to the forest floor. Its nest is made from moss and grass stems and is set in a thick shrub.
