Jelski's Black Tyrant

Jelski's Black Tyrant, Knipolegus signatus, is a tyrant flycatcher of northern Peru in South America. It also occurs in the Cordillera del Cóndor on the border with southern Ecuador, but the verified breeding range here is northern Peru. The bird was first described by Taczanowski in 1875. It is a monotypic species. Adults show marked sexual differences: males are entirely sooty black, while females are dark olive-brown above with rufous on the uppertail coverts, two wing bars, and heavily streaked underparts. Juveniles resemble females.
