Jerdon's Baza

Aviceda jerdoni

Jerdon's Baza is a medium-sized bird of prey found in South and Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive black crest on its head and a white throat with fine black streaks. The upperparts are dark brown, and the underparts are white with bold black bars. This bird is often found in forested areas, where it hunts for small mammals, birds, and insects. Jerdon's Baza is known for its agile flight and sharp talons, which it uses to catch its prey. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and deforestation pose potential risks to its population.
