Jerdon’s Bush Chat, Saxicola jerdoni, is a passerine in the Muscicapidae family and breeds across the Oriental Region from northern India to northern Thailand. It was described by Blyth in 1867. The bird’s common name honours the surgeon-naturalist Thomas C. Jerdon. Its recorded range also includes Bangladesh, China, India, Laos, Nepal, Thailand and Vietnam, with Shuklaphanta National Park in Nepal marking the western edge of its distribution. It is also noted from Myanmar, where it may no longer survive.
