Jet Antbird

Cercomacra carbonaria

The Jet Antbird (Cercomacra carbonaria) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the Amazon rainforest of South America. This species is known for its glossy black plumage, which provides excellent camouflage in the dimly lit forest understory. Jet Antbirds are often observed foraging for insects and small invertebrates in the dense vegetation, using their sharp bills to capture prey. They are known for their distinctive vocalizations, including a series of clear, whistled notes. These birds are typically found in lowland tropical forests and are known for their secretive behavior, making them challenging to observe in the wild.
