Jungle Prinia, Prinia sylvatica, is a passerine of the family Cisticolidae found in India and Sri Lanka. It is a resident breeder across the Oriental Region. Jerdon described it in 1840. The bird inhabits dry open grassland, open woodland, scrub and, at times, gardens. It is a small warbler with short rounded wings, a fairly long tail, sturdy legs and a short black bill. In Sri Lanka, the endemic race P. s. valida keeps its summer plumage throughout the year and lacks the supercilium and white tail markings.
