Karoo Thrush, Turdus smithi, is a thrush found in southern Namibia, south-eastern Botswana and northern South Africa. It was described by Bonaparte in 1850 and belongs to the family Turdidae in the order Passeriformes. It is set apart from the olive thrush by its longer bill, which is entirely yellow, its longer wings and its greyer flanks. In South Africa it occurs in Little Namaqualand, the Karoo and Northern Cape, as well as Free State, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and parts of North West Province.
