Kashmir Nuthatch

Sitta cashmirensis

The Kashmir Nuthatch is a small bird species found in the coniferous forests of the Himalayas. It has a distinct blue-grey upper body and a chestnut-colored belly, with a black stripe running through its eye. This nuthatch is known for its agile foraging behavior, often seen climbing up and down tree trunks in search of insects and seeds. It builds its nest in tree cavities and is known for its loud, repetitive calls. Due to habitat loss and fragmentation, the Kashmir Nuthatch faces threats to its population.
