Nestor notabilis

The Kea (Nestor notabilis) is a large, intelligent parrot native to the alpine regions of the South Island of New Zealand. Known for its curious and playful nature, the Kea is predominantly olive-green with striking orange underwings. With a wingspan of around 1 meter, the Kea is a social and highly adaptable bird, often found in mountainous areas. It is known for its mischievous behavior, including dismantling cars and stealing shiny objects. Due to threats such as habitat loss and predation, the Kea is classified as Vulnerable by the IUCN.
