Key West Quail-Dove

Geotrygon chrysia Bonaparte, 1855

Key West Quail-Dove, Geotrygon chrysia, is a pigeon and dove of the West Indies, breeding in the Bahamas and across the Greater Antilles apart from Jamaica. It is placed in Columbidae and was described by Bonaparte in 1855. It lives in tropical and subtropical dry forest, shrubland and lowland moist forest. The bird is marked by a dark rust back and wings, with a bold white facial stripe. Its crown, nape and rear neck show amethyst or bronze-green sheen, and other upperparts have purplish red iridescence.
