Klinesmith's Honeyeater

Lamprolia klinesmithi

The Klinesmith's Honeyeater is a small, insectivorous bird endemic to the forests of the Solomon Islands. It is characterized by its striking plumage, with iridescent green and blue feathers on the upperparts and a bright yellow underbelly. This species is known for its acrobatic flight and its melodic, flute-like calls. Klinesmith's Honeyeaters forage for insects and nectar in the forest canopy, using their slender, curved bills to extract food from flowers and foliage. They are often found in pairs or small family groups. Despite being locally common, habitat loss and degradation pose significant threats to this species.
