Kosrae Starling

Kosrae Starling, Aplonis corvina, is an extinct starling from Kosrae in the Caroline Islands of Micronesia. It was confined to the island’s montane forests. The bird was crow-like in appearance and had glossy black plumage, a long curved bill and a long tail. It is known from only five specimens collected between December 1827 and January 1828. Kittlitz described it in 1833. Searches in 1880 and again in 1931 failed to find it, and it is now regarded as extinct.
